PVOUT (photovoltaic Output) is an indicator (kWh/kWp/year) that evaluates the potential solar energy production per unit of solar panel capacity installed over a long period. Bouhal el al. mapped Morocco in accordance with climate zoning in order to compare the energy generated by concentrated solar power (CSP) systems, particularly parabolic trough systems. The results confirmed the cost-effectiveness of this technology on a large scale (less expensive and more productive).
“Maroc Photovoltaïque”, which consists of implementing a PV system with a capacity of 10 MW in the province of Jerada, is scheduled for commissioning in 2024. In addition, “Green Power Morocco”, with a capacity of 30 MW, is being developed by the company Green Power.
According to IRENA’s “Renewable Capacity Statistics” report, the global installed capacity of concentrated solar power (CSP) systems by the end of 2023 reached approximately 6876 MW, with Morocco accounting for nearly 20% of this total. Morocco is the leading country in Africa in terms of CSP capacity, followed by South Africa with 500 MW.
