State-owned petroleum firm QatarEnergy has awarded a contract for the construction of the 2,000MW Dukhan solar power plant. The agreement was signed between the client company and South Korea’s Samsung C&T, about 80 kilometers west of Doha. The plant will double Qatar’s solar generation capacity once completed.
The agreement was signed between the client company and South Korea’s Samsung C&T, about 80 kilometers west of Doha. The plant will double Qatar’s solar generation capacity once completed. This will facilitate in the supply of up to 30% of Qatar’s total peak electricity demand.
Qatar invests in renewable energy, building a solar plant in Dukhan. (Credit: QatarEnergy) Qatar’s future is looking solar with a new solar plant project on the way. The country’s first large-scale solar power plant, Al-Kharsaah Solar PV Power Plant, covers an area of 10 square kilometres.
Qatar’s solar energy future is steadily developing. With average daily sunshine of around 9.5 hours, low-cloud cover conditions and plentiful space, there is great scope for small, medium as well as large-scale solar power projects in the country.
Our solar power systems and energy storage products are engineered for reliability, safety, and efficient deployment. All systems include comprehensive monitoring and control systems with remote management capabilities.
The Al Kharsaah solar power plant can supply 10% of Qatar''s peak power consumption, thereby contributing to the country''s sustainability roadmap.
