In simple terms, the higher the voltage, the lower the energy loss, making high-voltage transmission the most efficient way to move electricity over long distances. For example, transmitting power at 765 kV can reduce losses by up to 90% compared to transmitting the same amount of power at 138 kV.
In the report, the communication and control system architecture models to enable distributed solar PV to be integrated into the future smart grid environment were reviewed. The existing communication technologies, protocols and current practice for solar PV integration are also introduced in the report.
