Levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) and levelized cost of storage (LCOS) represent the estimated costs required to build and operate a generator and diurnal storage, respectively, over a specified cost recovery period. Levelized avoided cost of electricity (LACE) is an estimate of the revenue available to that generator during the same period.
The Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) for coal does not include the cost of transportation and storage.
The Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) varies by resource type. For solar, solar + storage, or wind resources, LCOE plus Levelized Firming Cost is calculated. LCOE for Gas Combined Cycle ranges from $48 to $109/MWh, and for Gas Peaking, it ranges from $149 to $251/MWh.
The LCOE results clearly demonstrate that the capacity of the PV system can influence its feasibility. The systems with higher installed power are more efficient, even if the initial capital investment is greater. Moreover, the incentives granted by the government can substantially reduce the capital investment and lower the LCOE values.
