China’s Gotion High Tech has unveiled the latest generation of its lithium iron phosphate utility-scale battery energy storage products and mega-capacity cells, reflecting the industry trend towards packing more energy into the standard 20-foot container.
Higher capacity cells were previously released by the likes of Envision (700 Ah featured in its industry-leading 8 MWh, 20-foot BESS container) and Hithium (1175 Ah featured in its latest 6.25MWh BESS with a four hour energy storage configuration).
Envision Energy announced an 8-MWh, grid-scale battery that fits in a 20-ft (6-m) shipping container this week while at the third Electrical Energy Storage Alliance (EESA) exhibition held in Shanghai. The battery cells are produced by AESC, a Japanese company known for supplying high-performance batteries to numerous electric vehicle manufacturers.
